A 19-year-old man is facing charges of assault with a weapon and uttering threats after an incident yesterday afternoon in Abbotsford.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the Abbotsford Police Department received a call just after 1:30 p.m. from the landlord of a home in the 2300 block of McCallum Road.

The man, in his late 40s, said that his male tenant had pointed a gun in his face after the two got in an argument about the tenant being evicted.

MacDonald said about 10 police officers converged on the scene, along with Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service and BC Ambulance.

Streets in the area were blocked off for about an hour.

MacDonald said the male tenant, along with a woman, voluntarily came out of the residence on police commands. They were arrested peacefully, and charges are now being recommended against the man.

The landlord was unharmed.

When officers were able to enter the home, they discovered that the weapon in question was an airsoft pistol.
