Pedestrian struck by SUV in Abbotsford

A woman in her 50s is recovering in hospital after the incident on Monday afternoon.

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon in Abbotsford is recovering in hospital with a hip fracture and other injuries.

The incident took place at about 3:20 p.m. in the area of Marshall and Riverside roads.

Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said a woman in her 50s was proceeding in the crosswalk when she was struck by a Honda Pilot SUV.

MacDonald said the male driver, in his 70s, was making a left turn from Marshall onto Riverside at the time.

MacDonald said the incident is still under investigation, but the driver will likely receive one or more charges under the Motor Vehicle Act.
