A 75-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday morning in Abbotsford.

The collision took place just before 11 a.m. at the intersection of Guilford Drive and Marshall Road.

Const. Ian MacDonald said a woman in her 30s was driving a 2013 Dodge pickup south on Guilford and turning right on Marshall at the time of the crash. The pedestrian was on the north side of Marshall Road and looking to cross at Guilford.

MacDonald said investigators are still piecing together the exact circumstances of the low-speed collision.

He said the driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with police.

The pedestrian, who suffered a head injury and possibly other injuries, was initially taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital but was then airlifted to a Lower Mainland trauma centre.

Roads in the area are closed to traffic while collision reconstructionists remain on the scene.
