A middle-aged man was rushed to hospital with apparent injuries to his head and knees after being hit by a car at the corner of McMillan and Old Yale roads on Tuesday morning.

The driver of a Hyundai compact that struck the man said he was southbound on McMillan and making a left-hand turn onto Old Yale, at about 8:30 a.m.  He was blinded by the sun, did not see a pedestrian, and struck the man crossing the street in the crosswalk. He said the victim was conscious, but was not able to stand due to the leg injuries, and was bleeding from a head wound. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The driver said the first car through the intersection narrowly missed hitting the man, and one witness said the first car "clipped" him.
