One person was airlifted to hospital following a two-vehicle crash last night (Tuesday) on Lower Sumas Mountain Rd.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene just after 11 p.m.

When they arrived, they found one of the cars on its side, wedged against a pole.

"The vehicle's roof was pinned up against the telephone pole, and the vehicle was wrapped around the telephone pole," said Craig Bird, assistant fire chief.

The two occupants had to be extricated, and one was transported to Abbotsford Regional Hospital, while the other was taken by air ambulance to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.

No further details were available at this time.
