One person in custody following a crash near the Rosedale Bridge Tuesday.

One person is in custody after leading police on a wild chase through the eastern Fraser valley that left a trail of wreckage and at least one person injured.

Chilliwack RCMP had received a report of a vehicle speeding eastbound on Highway 1, driving erratically. The vehicle was reportedly travelling on the shoulder and at one point forced a semi trailer off the road.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle, but were unable to stop it.

The driver apparently commandeered a second vehicle in Hope, and was seen travelling at a high rate of speed westbound toward Agassiz on Highway 7.

He turned southbound on Highway 9 and headed across the Rosedale Bridge in the wrong lane. Police managed to use a spike belt to stop the vehicle, but not before an Agassiz woman was injured after her truck was hit at the south end of the bridge.

One male was taken into custody, and the woman taken to hospital.

The road remained closed until well past 6 p.m. as RCMP investigated the scene.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611.
