One dead after vehicle crashes into a tree in Chilliwack River Valley

One person is dead after a vehicle crashed into a tree early Tuesday morning in the Chilliwack River Valley.

On Sept. 3 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Chilliwack RCMP report that officers were called to a “remote section” of Chilliwack Lake Road after receiving a report that a vehicle had hit a tree.

Officers arrived at the scene where they located the lone occupant of the vehicle, who was deceased at the scene.

The area surrounding the scene is cordoned off Tuesday afternoon, and will be for a significant amount of time, police report. Chilliwack Traffic Service supported by the RCMP Lower Mainland District Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are in the early evidence gathering phase of their investigation.

The RCMP have no further information at this time pending notification of next of kin.
