New appointment for MLA Darryl Plecas

The Abbotsford South representative appointed to new parliamentary secretary position

Abbotsford South MLA Darryl Plecas is among the MLAs impacted by cabinet changes announced Friday by Premier Christy Clark.

Plecas, previously the parliamentary secretary to the minister of justice and attorney general for crime reduction, now becomes the parliamentary secretary for seniors to the minister of health.

Plecas replaces Parksville-Qualicum MLA Michelle Stilwell, who has been appointed the new minister of social development and innovation.

Plecas was first elected as an MLA in the the May 2013 provincial election.

He previously served as the RCMP research chair and director at the Centre for Public Safety and Criminal Justice Research at the University of the Fraser Valley, where he worked for 34 years.

Clark also announced that Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris will be the new parliamentary secretary to the minister of forests, lands and natural resource operations.
