Methamphetamine and other drugs with an estimated prison value of almost $89,000 were seized last Thursday (Dec. 9) at Matsqui Institution in Abbotsford.

A press release issued Monday afternoon (Dec. 13) states that the seized package also contained a smart phone and accessories.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) said it uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions. This includes ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
