Mission’s Margo Zecchini will go down in history as the first ever major Daily Grand winner.
Zecchini matched five out of five numbers, missing only the Grand Number, to win the secondary prize of $25,000 a year for life on the first Daily Grand Draw on Oct. 20.
No one won the first prize is a $1,000 a day for life.
Zecchini decided to take the lump sum payment of $500,000, which is the equivalent of $25,000 a year for 20 years.
“I played Daily Grand because of the buzz surrounding the game’s launch,” said Zecchini. “This feels really special because I’m the first winner ever.”
The first person Zecchini told about the win was her husband, who actually needed some convincing.
“I had pulled a prank on him earlier in the day so I took a while before he finally believed I won the lottery,” said Zecchini.
She looks forward to sharing the wealth with her daughters.
“I want to buy my husband a new truck And my granddaughter is getting a new doll for sure.”
The winning Daily Grand ticket was purchased at London Drugs in Mission.
