Three construction contracts, worth a total of $3,572,761, were handed out by council last week. McDonald and Ross Construction Ltd. of Abbotsford was awarded $2,039,318 to extend Marshall Road between Queen Street and Mt. Lehman Road. This is the final stage of the Marshall Road extension plan. As well as road work, the contact includes rain gardens, sidewalks and street lights.

Southwest Contracting Ltd. in Surrey will receive $1,038,640 to widen Old Yale Road from North Parallel Road to Zanatta Place.

An existing contract with Tyam Construction – for work on the Whatcom Road connector – has been increased by $494,803. Bad weather and other unforeseen issues, including slope repairs, have caused delays and extra work to be performed. The connector is scheduled to open in late February.
