The Rotary Club of Abbotsford has announced that it will not hold its annual Million Dollar Hole-in-One fundraiser this year.
The event, which raises money for local charities, was scheduled for this spring, but the Fraserglen Golf Course’s driving range suffered damage in the ice storm earlier this year.
Club president Sara Lawson said there is still an opportunity to support fundraising for the Starfish Pack program in partnership with Fraserglen and title sponsor Berryhill Foods.
The program, now in its fourth year, provides backpacks filled with food for more than 230 students to take home on weekends, when they can’t access school breakfast and lunch programs.
“Although there will not be the Hole-in-One event this year, we will contribute to Starfish Packs through other avenues, and we encourage you to do the same,” Lawson said.
“Raising funds for hungry children to improve student success is not only important to us – but to our community.”
Incoming president Stacey Irwin said a date will be announced later for the Rotary’s drive for funds in partnership with the Fraserglen grand re-opening.
The club has operated its signature Hole-in-One fundraiser since 1998, raising more than $500,000 for local charitable organizations.
