The annual Make a Difference Sale raised an estimated $140,000 for people in need at Abbotsford’s McClary Stockyard last Thursday.

The auction, which featured cattle, farm tools and plants, raised money for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, with every dollar matched four to one, by the federal government.

“It was a great auction again this year, and we couldn’t have done it without our volunteer committee that put in a lot of hours preparing [and] planning, but also reaching out to the community to get donations of cattle and other general auction items,” said Rob Brandsma, the event’s organizer.

Brandsma said the funds will help feed Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan, as well as provide farming skills and supplies in other countries.
