An Abbotsford man who was sentenced in April 2013 to 10 months in jail for dealing drugs received another six-month jail term on Nov. 18.
Russell Jordan Mayhew, 27, pleaded guilty in Abbotsford provincial court to two counts of assault, possession of a prohibited weapon, assault with a weapon and breaching his bail conditions.
Mayhew was arrested June 27 for the weapons charges and was released on bail three days later, according to provincial court records.
He was then wanted by police in connection with an Aug. 16th break-in, resulting in the Abbotsford Police Department’s emergency response team arresting him on Aug. 27 in the 2000 block of Sandalwood Cres.
Police initially thought they were dealing with a “barricade situation,” but Mayhew later surrendered.
He has been in custody ever since.
Mayhew’s jail term will be followed by three years of probation.
Police have previously referred to Mayhew as “gang-involved.” He was arrested three times in a five-month span in 2012.
At the time of his sentencing in April 2013, Mayhew was also given a three-year driving prohibition and a 10-year firearms ban.
His criminal record includes charges and convictions for driving while prohibited, resisting a police officer, break and enter, assault and possession of a controlled substance.
