Man's body found in ditch near Canada-U.S. border

Dead man has ties to Atlanta and Vancouver, but is not a citizen of Canada or the U.S.

Canadian border authorities at the Aldergrove crossing notified their American counterparts, after spotting a body in a muddy ditch on the U.S. side of the border on Thursday, June 5.

Whatcom County has identified the man as Suleman Jivani, 44, who had ties to both Atlanta and Vancouver.

It is unknown what the man, who is not a citizen of either country, was doing in the corn field or in the ditch, but a coroner said his body had been there for around three weeks. The death is considered an accident.

The ditches in that area are very wide and can be deep.
