UPDATE: Man wanted for domestic assault in Abbotsford is arrested

The Abbotsford Police Department has arrested Derek Wilkinson, who was wanted on charges related to a domestic assault in December.

UPDATE: The Abbotsford Police Department indicated on Jan. 12 that Derek Wilkinson has been located and arrested.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is asking for the public’s help to locate a man wanted for domestic violence.

The APD’s domestic violence unit says a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Derek William Wilkinson, 37, on charges of assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, assault, and two counts of breaching his probation on Dec. 27 and 29, 2020.

Wilkinson is six feet tall, has a stocky build, weighs 205 pounds and has short red hair and blue eyes. He sometimes has a goatee or a moustache.

According to the provincial court database, Wilkinson has several prior convictions for offences such as assault, theft, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, drug possession, and multiple counts of breaching his bail and probation conditions.

Wilkinson is currently on three years’ probation for an assault that occurred in April 2019.
