Adam Taylor was caught on video surveillance the day before a robbery in Abbotsford. A distinctive tattoo on the back of his neck helped link him to the crime.

A man who has been in custody since committing robberies in Abbotsford in November 2015 has been sentenced to time served.

Adam John Taylor, 28, was sentenced recently in Abbotsford provincial court on two charges of robbery and one charge of assault with a weapon.

He previously pleaded guilty to those charges, while a third count of robbery was stayed.

Taylor was initially charged with three robberies that occurred within 10 hours of each other on Nov. 10, 2015 – at a business in the 2600 block of Gladys Avenue and at restaurants in the 31200 block of Maclure Road and the 31900 block of South Fraser Way.

In one of those incidents, Taylor deployed bear spray.

He wore a mask during the robberies, but police were able to quickly identify him due to a distinctive tattoo that was seen on the back of his neck.

Police obtained video footage of an unmasked man with the same tattoo entering one of the businesses the day before it was robbed, and released that photo to the public.

Taylor was soon identified as the man in the photos, and he was quickly arrested.
