A man has been sentenced to one year and nine months in prison for charges related to an Abbotsford house party in 2017 in which shots were fired and four people were injured.
Stephen Tomac, 28, previously pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault and one count of using a firearm to commit an offence.
He was sentenced Jan. 6 in B.C. Supreme Court in Chilliwack. He also received a 10-year weapons ban, according to court records.
Tomac was initially faced four other charges – two more counts of aggravated assault and one count each of unlawfully discharging a firearm and possessing a firearm without a licence – but those were stayed.

The charges stem from an incident on March 17, 2017, when police were called to the area of Beaver Street and Seal Way.
Police who arrived found two men in their early 20s both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. They were taken to hospital.
Two other men – also in their early 20s – also arrived at the hospital. One had gunshot wounds and the other sustained injuries related to blunt-force trauma, police said last the time.
A police dog unit was brought to the scene and a firearm was located, although police didn’t reveal the make of the weapon.
All the people involved were believed to have been attending a large house party nearby on Peardonville Road prior to the attack.
The exact circumstances that led to the assaults have not been released.
A woman – Claudette Marsh, 20 – was charged at the same time as Tomac with one count of aggravated assault.
Marsh pleaded guilty in June 2018 to the lesser charge of assault causing bodily harm and received a 6.5-month conditional sentence, followed by one year of probation.
