A 33-year-old man has pleaded guilty to robbing businesses in Abbotsford and Mission in 2012.
Shaymon Webb pleaded guilty April 11 in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster to four of the nine offences with which he was charged.
He admitted to robbing Chances Gaming Centre in Mission on March 7, 2012 and Michael Hill Jeweller in Abbotsford's Sevenoaks Shopping Centre on June 12, 2012.
He also pleaded guilty to using a fake gun and disguising his face in relation to the Abbotsford robbery.
Webb also faced charges in relation to a robbery at Chances in Mission on July 9, 2009, but those charges are expected to be stayed.
In all, he had been charged with three counts of robbery, three counts of using a fake gun, and three counts of using a mask/disguise during an offence.
Webb's sentencing hearing is scheduled for Sept. 12 in New Westminster.
In the 2012 robbery at Chances, Webb was accused of wielding a shotgun and demanding cash. He then fled in a 1987 Pontiac 6000 that had allegedly been stolen from Abbotsford.
During the incident in Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, he carried a fake gun, walked into the jewelry store, used a rock to smash a display case and stole several items.
He pulled his shirt up to conceal his face just before entering the store.
After the robbery, Webb ran through the mall and drove away in an older model black sedan.
Police found some discarded clothing and a replica handgun in the area.
On Dec. 7, 2012, police issued a public notice, asking for help in trying to locate Webb, who was a suspect in the prior robberies and was wanted for another incident – a break-in at a restaurant in the 33660 block of South Fraser Way on Nov. 24, 2012.
In that incident, Webb smashed the locked glass front door of the restaurant, jumped the counter and took some food. Security video led police to seek Webb as a suspect.
He was arrested Dec. 8, charged with breaking into the restaurant and released on bail. He pleaded guilty to that crime in February 2013 and was sentenced to 17 days in jail.
Webb also faces a separate charge of theft in relation to an incident on Jan. 10, 2012 in Abbotsford. He is next scheduled to appear May 8 in Abbotsford provincial court on that charge.
