An elderly man smashed his car into the front of a restaurant on Montrose Avenue in Abbotsford on Friday afternoon.

A 93-year-old man smashed into the front of a restaurant in Historic Downtown Abbotsford on Friday afternoon.

The incident took place at about 4 p.m. at the Little Farm House in the City in the 2500 block of Montrose Avenue. The area is currently preparing for the annual Berrybeat Festival, taking place all weekend.

The man had apparently been parked in front of the restaurant and his car was not in reverse when he stepped on the gas.

He was taken to hospital for observation, but was not seriously injured.

Damage to the business was limited, and the owner said she was grateful that no one had been sitting at the outside tables at the time of the crash.
