A second-degree murder charge has been levelled against James Saar in connection to a homicide at Mission Institution just over one year ago.
Troy Robert Squires was found dead in his cell at the Stave Lake Street prison Dec. 2, 2011, and the RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team announced the charge today (Jan. 3).
Saar was serving a life sentence for homicide-related charges and aggravated assault. He was eligible for parole in 2017, and was moved to a maximum security institution outside of B.C. shortly after Squires' death.
