Residents in an Abbotsford neighbourhood experienced a disruptive end to their Christmas Day festivities.
At about 9:45 that evening, Abbotsford Police received a report that two loud bangs or shots had been heard coming from a home on Goldfinch Street.
Const. Ian MacDonald said that when police arrived, they discovered that a 46-year-old man had taken his shotgun out on the back porch and fired two shots.
Police cleared the home and executed a search warrant.
The man was arrested and a charges of careless use of a firearm will be recommended, MacDonald said.
A heavy police presence was at the home on Christmas evening, and the investigation continued for much of Boxing Day.
