IHIT has identified Shaun Alan Clary

The homicide victim whose dismembered remains were discovered at the side of the road in rural Langley on Wednesday morning has now been identified as Shaun Alan Clary.

Clary, 27, is believed to have had gang associations, according to a statement released Friday by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

Police were called to a rural Langley neighbourhood around 7 a.m. on Oct. 26, after receiving reports that remains had been found in the area of 243 Street and Robertson Crescent.

It was just a few blocks away from a house identified as a drug making facility in 2015.

Later that morning, IHIT took over the investigation and on Wednesday afternoon, police held a press conference at the Langley RCMP detachment, where they said the death was considered to be linked to gang activity.

“While investigators are aware of the heightened tension between particular gang associates, it would be premature to assume this conflict to be the direct motive for his homicide,” Friday's statement from IHIT reads.

“We continue to work with our partners, in the Lower Mainland and beyond, to gather further evidence that would identify specific links to support our investigation.

“We are in the early stages of the investigation and cannot confirm if Mr. Clary’s homicide is linked to other homicides, or other recent cases of violence.

On Sunday, Oct. 16, Robert Keith Green a senior member of the Hells Angels, was discovered seriously injured at a rural Langley Township address on 72 Avenue near 240 Street.  He later died.

“The targeted and barbaric nature of this (Clary's) homicide is not lost on investigators or the public, and we are working tirelessly to gather evidence to move forward,” said IHIT spokesperson, Cpl. Meghan Foster.

“There are individuals out there who have the intimate details in regards to the flagrant disregard for Mr. Clary's life. We are looking to speak with those individuals and ultimately hold those responsible, accountable."
