Two people have been arrested for a romp in a stranger's Kelowna hot tub.

An 18-year-old Kelowna man and a Surrey woman were arrested May 27 by Kelowna RCMP and are facing criminal charges after being caught on camera performing obscene acts in a stranger’s hot tub.

RCMP Const. Jesse O’Donaghey said the teenager turned himself into police, and has been released on strict conditions after appearing before a judicial justice of the peace.

The surveillance video showed the couple consuming alcohol and engaging in physical relations. It also shows the couple trying to steal an electronic device.

O’Donaghey said the woman was also released on a promise-to-appear court document and is next expected in provincial court on Aug. 22.

Both are facing charges of trespassing at night, mischief, and theft under $5,000.

O’Donaghey credited the homeowners with doing the right thing by contacting the police and turning over the video footage.

“That was the right thing to do. A criminal offence is being committed here…their rights have been violated and they did the right thing.”
