Update: RCMP arrest domestic assault suspect west of Kamloops.

Update: 6:29 p.m. Dec. 16:

The Southeast District RCMP Emergency Response Team has made an arrest in connection to the domestic incident which saw them called out to the Sebiston Creek Forest Service Road near Savona, West of Kamloops, earlier today.

At 4:30 p.m. the RCMP arrested a 51-year-old man who has no fixed address from a trailer on the forest service road. He was arrested for domestic assault and firearms offences. The police were called to the area at approximately 10:49 a.m. today.

The RCMP thank the public for their assistance with the investigation and say the officers remain on the scene of the arrest collecting evidence and securing the area.

The Kamloops RCMP have deployed its Emergency Response Team to an apparent domestic situation.

In a release Saturday morning, police said the incident was unfolding in the area of Sabiston Creek Forest Service Road and Highway 1.

“Police are asking public to avoid the area until police can resolve the situation as quickly and safely as possible,” RCMP said.
