John Fogerty is coming back to Abbotsford on Friday, Nov. 28 to perform the songs of Creedence Clearwater Revival 1969. He played here in 2012.
This tour celebrates 1969 – the extraordinary year in which Fogerty wrote and produced three seminal albums with Creedence Clearwater Revival: Bayou Country, Green River, and Willy and the Poor Boys.
John Fogerty is one of popular music’s well-known singers, guitar players, and songwriters. His career began in his hometown of El Cerrito, California, soon earning popular and critical success with Creedence Clearwater Revival. As leader of CCR, Fogerty forged a sound all his own, equal parts blues, country, pop, rockabilly, R&B, swamp boogie, and southern ‘n’ roll.
After Creedence Clearwater Revival called it quits in 1972, Fogerty embarked on a solo career. Among its highlights are 1975’s John Fogerty – featuring ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’ – and 1985’s Centrefield. With its trio of hit singles, including ‘The Old Man Down The Road,’ ‘Rock And Roll Girls,’ and the title track, the multi-platinum collection marked Fogerty’s return to the forefront of modern rock ‘n’ roll.
1997’s Blue Moon Swamp earned Fogerty further acclamation, as well as a Grammy Award for ‘Best Rock Album.’ Among his many other honours are induction in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the BMI Pop Music Awards’ prestigious ‘BMI Icon,’ and Performance Magazine’s ‘Theater Tour of the Year’ Award. In addition, Fogerty and ‘Centerfield’ were honored during the 2010 National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies – the first time the National Baseball Hall of Fame has immortalized a musician or song as part of the annual ceremonies.
In 2013, he released Wrote a Song for Everyone.
The show will be centered around the year of 1969, but will also include his complete catalog of hits
