Jatinder Sidhu announces Abbotsford council intentions

Local businessman Jatinder Sidhu has announced his intention to run for Abbotsford council in November’s municipal election.

Local businessman Jatinder Sidhu has announced his intention to run for Abbotsford council in November’s municipal election.

Sidhu has been involved in the community for more than 30 years, both professionally and through community service.

He is the president of Green-vale Enterprises Inc., an agricultural company, and is the CEO and president of the housing and business development Sidhu Group of Companies.

A founding and current member of the Fraser Valley Indo-Canadian Business Association, he is a supporter of agriculture, arts, education and multiculturalism.

Sidhu has also served on the University of the Fraser Valley Board of Governors and on the Abbots-ford Police Board.

With current councillor Moe Gill planning to run provincially, Sidhu said it’s important for the Indo-Canadian community to have representation on council.

However, he stressed that he will represent “the community at large.”

He said friends and colleagues have been asking him to run for some time.

“I feel this is the right time in my life.”

He plans to work to bring change to the council table by supporting innovative and fresh ideas in the city’s vital sectors of business, agriculture, environment and public safety.
