The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is advising drivers to avoid the area of Whatcom and Vye roads on Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 21).

The APD says a road closure will be in effect due to adverse road conditions, including four- to six-foot snow drifts following a 20-centimetre dumping of snow – and high winds – overnight Monday and into Tuesday morning. The winds on Sumas Prairie have continued to blow the snow around on Wednesday.

Barricades will be in place at the intersection, the APD says.

Police indicate that Vye Road between Fadden and Whatcom is “particularly treacherous.”
