Injured hiker rescued from Sumas Mountain in Abbotsford

Woman in her 50s was hiking with her daughter at the time.

An injured hiker was rescued from Sumas Mountain in Abbotsford on Sunday evening.

The woman in her 50s had been hiking with her daughter on a trail off Carlyle Drive at the top of the mountain when she broke her ankle at about 6:15 p.m.

The pair used a cellphone to call rescue crews, and the daughter met them on the road to escort them about 1.5 km to her mother's location.

The rescue took about three hours.
