A man was taken into custody after a single-vehicle accident on Saturday morning and police are conducting an impaired driving investigation.
At around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, police were at the 30200 block of Downes Road.
The occupants of the vehicle had fled to a short distance away.
The driver was taken into custody and an impaired driving investigation is currently underway.
The passenger was taken to hospital to be checked for minor injuries.
Abbotsford police Sgt. Marcus Senft said the occupants were very lucky as the ditch the car went into is very steep.
He said police want to make sure everyone is being safe and if anyone is drinking on the long weekend, to arrange to have a safe ride.
