An Abbotsford man has pleaded guilty in relation to the stabbing of four people last July.

William Anton Butz, 34, was initially charged with four counts of aggravated assault but he pleaded guilty last Wednesday in Abbotsford provincial court to two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

His sentencing hearing has been scheduled for March 26.

The incident took place July 26 in a basement suite in the 31400 block of Springhill Court.

The four victims were among a small group of people gathered at the residence when an altercation took place.

People began fleeing from the suite and passersby called police to report that a man was stabbing people.

Three victims – a 37-year-old woman and two men, ages 19 and 25 – were taken to hospital by ground ambulance, while a seriously wounded 18-year-old woman was transported by air ambulance.

All recovered from their injuries.

One of the male victims who posted on Facebook after the assault said that one of the women had been stabbed in the eye, while the other had her throat slit.

The man said he required 50 stitches to close a wound on his arm.

Butz was charged two days after the attacks and has remained in custody.
