Grant aimed at helping create healthier communities

B.C. government grant money to guide FVRD park planning

A $5,000 provincial government grant will help the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) plan for healthier communities.

The funds will be used to support the FVRD determine a vision that will guide park management and development in the future.

“Fraser Valley parks offer countless opportunities for outdoor recreation,” said Abbotsford South MLA Darryl Plecas. “This funding will assist the FVRD in guiding park planning so that we can enjoy our natural spaces now and in the future.”

This grant is awarded under the Healthy Communities Capacity Building Grant, which supports local government in learning about the needs of their residents in the fields of mental health, physical activity and literacy. More than 150 applications were received from communities across the province for projects as diverse as active transportation planning and urban agriculture promotion.
