A fundraiser has been set up for a Hope family who lost their home and pets in a fire.

The GoFundMe fundraiser is called “Burkowsky house fire Monday December 6th, 2021”, and has already garnered more than $5,500 in donations.

According to the family friend who created the account, the family lost all their belongings as well as a dog and a cat. The fire was on the afternoon on Dec. 6 on Silverhope Road.

Fire Chief Tom DeSorcy says there is extensive damage and the cause is still under investigation. When the fire department arrived at about 2:30 p.m., the fire was inside the home and on the roof.

There were 12 firefighters tasked with fighting the fire, including a crew from Yale in mutual aid.
