Break out your platforms, leather and face paint – rock legends KISS are coming to town.

The American heavy-metal band is making a stop at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC) on Monday, June 27.

It's a performance that is going to put the arena on the map as a premiere venue, said Jason Blumenfeld, general manager for Global Spectrum Facility Management at the AESC.

“It will be the biggest show to ever play in Abbotsford. We are so excited to have them,” he said, adding that it will also showcase the arena's versatility.

With songs like Rock 'N Roll All Night, Detroit Rock City and Shout It Out Loud, the glam-metal group – famous for face paint, flamboyant outfits and energetic shows – will be performing on a stage large enough to accommodate their pyrotechnic needs.

The summer event will also mark the first AESC block party, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy food and drinks outside the arena before the doors open.

Blumenfeld expects the June date to draw a large cross-section of people, as the band has been performing for 36 years. Since they started, KISS has recorded 37 albums and sold more than 100 million copies worldwide.

"These guys are icons – they've got action figures, Gene Simmons has his own TV show, and they're spoofed on shows like Family Guy," said Blumenfeld. "It's an all-generation band so everyone knows who they are."

Tickets for KISS go on sale on Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m.

Prices are $150.25, $120.25, $90.25 and $70.25.

They are available at abbotsfordcentre.ca, the AESC box office and by phone at 1-866-977- AESC (2372).

Doors for the June 27 show open at 6:45 p.m., with the show starting at 7:45 p.m.

Tickets for the upcoming Sarah McLachlan show, taking place this Sunday, are continuing to sell daily.

Blumenfeld said another large announcement is going to be made in the coming weeks.
