Fraser water worries wane

The high streamflow advisory for the lower Fraser River ended Friday afternoon.

Heavy rains in northern British Columbia prompted a warning from the B.C. River Forecast Centre earlier this week about higher than normal water levels.

The river peaked on Thursday at the Mission bridge gauge at 5.72 metres — it's sitting at 5.47m as of Friday afternoon — which was less than the six metres forecast.

The river level will rise again next week, said the centre, but it will be less than what was expected this week.

The centre will continue to monitor conditions, as the outlook may change in response to on-going weather. Streamflow information is available at http://bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/bulletins/freshet.htm.
