A former Abbotsford high school teacher has been sentenced to an intermittent 90-day jail term and two years of probation after pleading guilty to one count of sexual assault.
Henry Kang was recently sentenced in Abbotsford provincial court. At that time, seven other charges against him were stayed: three more counts of sexual assault and four counts of sexual exploitation.
Kang, 52, was a teacher at Robert Batemen and W. J. Mouat Secondary in Abbotsford in May 2018 when police announced that he was facing four charges. Another four charges were later added.
At the time, police said the charges related to two victims who were youths at the time of the incidents. No further details were released.
The Abbotsford school district issued a statement following Kang’s arrest, saying they had received a complaint about him in January 2018 and it was immediately reported to police.
