A former Abbotsford man has been arrested in Dawson Creek and charged with child pornography offences.

Jason Christopher Reedel was arrested Nov. 21 and now faces charges of possession of child porn and making child porn available.

Const. Ian MacDonald said a detective with the Abbotsford Police Department’s major crime unit received information in August that an Abbotsford resident was uploading images of child sexual abuse.

An investigation was launched and a 41-year-old male suspect was identified. The man then moved to Dawson Creek.

MacDonald said the APD continued its investigation, with the assistance of the Dawson Creek RCMP, and executed a search warrant at a residence in that community on Oct. 25.

A subsequent search of a laptop computer and files storage devices resulted in evidence to support charges, MacDonald said.

According to the provincial court database, Reedel was previously convicted in 2014 of possessing child porn in Langley and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by three years of probation.

Reedel is scheduled to make his next court appearance Dec. 19 in Abbotsford.
