Just in time for Halloween and Diwali, the City of Abbotsford wants to remind residents that fireworks and firecrackers are banned without a permit.

“Only licensed ant trained pyro-technicians can apply for a permit to hold a fireworks display within the city,” says Rhonda Livingstone, a city spokesperson.

“This year, several permits for Diwali and Halloween have been issued and local citizens who wish to watch fireworks are encouraged to attend those displays.”

Without a permit, anyone selling, possessing or using fireworks within the city could face a fine from $200 to $1,000.
