Fire crews were called to a fire on James Street in Abbotsford early Thursday morning.

A fire early Thursday morning is being investigated by Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service and the Abbotsford Police Department.

Crews were called just before 5 a.m. to James Street – north of Hillcrest Avenue and west of Adelaide Street – for a reported house fire. When they arrived, they found a car on fire at the side of the home.

The vehicle was destroyed and the side of the house was slightly damaged.

The residents in the home were not injured. The cause is not yet known.

The fire occurred in the same area of central Abbotsford in which a series of arsons took place in mid-April, including on Hillcrest and Adelaide. Colby Drew Jandrew, 20, was recently sentenced to a jail term of almost four years for those fires.
