A firefighter on the scene of a garage fire on Columbia Street in Abbotsford on Thursday (July 26) afternoon.

Fire destroyed a three-car garage that was housing a Porsche and wood-working tools, among other items, Thursday afternoon in Abbotsford.

Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service was called to the scene at 1467 Columbia Street at about 2 p.m. following reports of smoke in the area.

When crews arrived, they found the garage, which was detached from the home, fully engulfed in flames. Large trees around the structure were starting to catch fire.

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames and keep the blaze from spreading to the home.

The cause is under investigation.

This was the second structure fire that AFRS dealt with on Thursday. The first occurred in the morning at a home on Interprovincial Highway.
