Fire damages Minter Street home

The lone resident of the Abbotsford house escaped but suffered smoke inhalation.

An Abbotsford duplex suffered extensive fire damage Tuesday morning, and the cause has not yet been determined.

Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service responded to the scene at 2552 Minter St. at about 6:30 a.m. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the unit at the rear of the structure.

The lone resident had escaped from the home and was transported to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Assistant Fire Chief Dave Rivett said the blaze was quickly brought under control, but the home suffered about $100,000 in damages.

The incident is still under investigation.
