Fire crews responded to a fire at a home on Gladwin Road on Thursday night.

Fire crews responded to a fire at a house in the 1400 block of Gladwin Road around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday night.

"On arrival our crews noticed a lot of flames from the rear of the structure," said assistant fire chief Dave Rivett.

Rivett said it was difficult to fight the fire because the house had additions built on it.

"The fire looks like it had a good hold when we got here."

He said there is a considerable amount of damage – probably around $100,000 worth – as the fire was already in the basement, main floor and into the attic when crews arrived.

Crews were able to put the fire out.

Rivett said at first firefighters were concerned someone was home as there was a car and children's toys in the driveway, but fortunately the residents were out at the time of the fire.
