Fire crew rescues cat in a tree

Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service performed the classic “cat in a tree” rescue on Friday afternoon.

The black kitten had climbed about 80 feet up a tree on Oakridge Crescent, and the owner called for assistance when it wouldn’t come down.

Deputy Chief Ron Hull said the rescue was “quite complicated” due to electrical wires in the way.

“It’s always a hazard to go up that high in a tree,” he said.

The kitten was bundled in a blanket and returned safely to its owner, who thanked the firefighters for their help.
