Fire at truss company in Abbotsford causes $75,000 damage

The blaze took place Wednesday night at Alliance Truss.

A fire on Wednesday night in Abbotsford caused about $75,000 in damages to Alliance Truss on Riverside Road.

Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) was called to the fire at 10:25 p.m.

On arrival, fire crews reported that there was smoke coming from the roof area at the rear of the structure.

Assistant Fire Chief Dave Rivett said workers on site were able to keep the fire under control until AFRS crews arrived.

Rivett said crews were able to extinguish the fire within an hour, and damage was limited to a small area in the roof structure. Some production equipment was also damaged.

Rivett said fire was accidental in nature, and AFRS investigators have determined that the cause was electrical issues.

Eight AFRS fire trucks and approximately 24 firefighters were on scene.

Abbotsford Police, BC Ambulance Service, BC Hydro and Fortis Gas also responded. No injuries were reported.
