A female pedestrian was hit by a city transit bus on Tuesday at about 5 p.m.

The woman in her late 30s was attended to by paramedics on scene, and was later taken to hospital by helicopter. Abbotsford Police spokesman Ian MacDonald said the woman was alert in hospital a few hours later and was in stable condition.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, which occurred in the 2200 block of McCallum Road, to determine exactly what happened. The woman was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.

The video shows an item of clothing next to the curb by the bus which was later covered by a yellow police tarp as a piece of evidence at the scene.

Abbotsford Fire Rescue Services and members of the Abbotsford Police Department and BC Ambulance Service attended the scene.

In an unrelated incident on Monday, police were seeking witnesses in another pedestrian accident.
