An event was held at Heritage Park in Mission on Saturday to commemorate one year since the death of 14-month-old Alexcia McKamey of Abbotsford.

Alexcia's mom Jacqueline McKamey hosted a potluck lunch and balloon release in the park for what she called her daughter's "angelversary."

Her daughter died under suspicious circumstances in Chilliwack on Sept. 20, 2013.

RCMP were called to a house on Mullins Road in Chilliwack at about 10 p.m. that day, when Alexica appeared to be in medical distress.

She was taken to hospital, where attempts to revive her were unsuccessful. The Integrated Homicide Investigate Team took over the file when the death was considered to involve foul play, and an autopsy was to be conducted.

The results have not been released publicly or even privately to Alexcia's family, and no arrests have been made.

Jacqueline held a public rally outside the Crown counsel office Cruickshank Street in Abbotsford on Monday afternoon (Sept. 22) to pressure authorities to speed up the matter.

She plans to hold another rally on Tuesday, Sept. 30 outside the Abbotsford courthouse at around noon.
