Election 2014: Hank Roos to seek council seat

City of Abbotsford: Nature club president to run for council - Council candidate

Hank Roos has announced his candidacy for city council in the November election.

Roos said he and his wife selected Abbotsford 42 years ago to raise their family and now enjoy seeing their grandchildren grow up here as well.

A retired construction estimator and project manager, Roos’ interests include gardening, woodwork and a love for the natural world.

Roos’ community involvement includes having served on a variety of boards and committees at both his church and Abbotsford Christian School. He currently serves as president of the Abbotsford-Mission Nature Club, which he has done for 12 years.

Roos feels that Abbotsford is a great place to live and wants to contribute to a vision that is focussed on a sustainable model, particularly in light of the significant growth projections in the next 25 to 30 years.

He said using a biophysical inventory, informed planning and development decisions can be made.

He said there is no second chance at ensuring a “healthy environment for a healthy community” for our children and grandchildren.

Roos was endorsed by the Abbotsford Greens Elector Organization, which supports candidates who understands and support green principles.
