Two accidents that occurred on Highway 1 westbound have slowed traffic on Thursday morning.

Ambulance, fire and freeway patrol responded to the two incidents, both located near the No. 3 Road exit.

The first accident occurred between the No. 3 Road and Whatcom Road exits. Reports say a car slid off the highway and into the ditch, which slowed passing traffic. A dump truck that was driving along the highway hit the brakes, stalling the vehicle which began to spin out of control. The dump truck spun off the highway, down the embankment and onto North Parallel Road, making almost a complete turn, but managing not to hit any other vehicles.

Emergencies services are clearing the accident, with no indication of whether there were any injuries.

The second accident occurred by the No. 3 Road exit, a three-car rear-end accident, which witnesses say was affected by the slowdown in traffic caused by the first accident. There are reports of minor injuries.
