A drive-thru food drive is coming to Abbotsford’s Highstreet Shopping Centre on Saturday, Nov. 21.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will support the Archway Food Bank of Abbotsford in advance of the holiday season.

The first 100 vehicles to drop off a bag of donations at the drive-thru will receive a Herschel backpack valued at over $75. Every vehicle making a donation will also earn an entry into a draw to win a $1,000 Highstreet gift card.

“To meet the needs of individuals and families who find themselves in need of food during the pandemic, we looked for a new way to distribute food and bring attention to the demand for donations, while keeping everyone safe,” stated Tanya Curtis, General Manager, Highstreet in a press release.

Those donating enter next door to Envision Financial on the podium level. Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Abbotsford and Village Church will take donations directly from guest vehicles, making this a low-contact and low-touch event.

“These are challenging, but rewarding days here at the food bank,” stated Dave Murray of Archway Community Services. “As we deal with the huge challenges of COVID-19, we are so excited that Shape Properties, Highstreet has chosen to have a food drive on our behalf. Not only is this a great blessing, but the timing could not be better.”
