UPDATE: Medevacs called in for 3-vehicle crash on Maclure Road in Abbotsford

Lanes between Trethewey and Gladwin blocked

A total of 16 patients required care following a three-vehicle crash on Maclure road on Tuesday (July 27) morning.

According to BC Emergency Health Services, six ambulances and an air ambulance helicopter were dispatched to the scene. A total of 16 patients required care.

Three patients were critical, including one patient airlifted to hospital. Two more patients were transported to hospital in serious but stable condition. Paramedics treated and cared for 11 other patients at the scene, but who did not require transport to hospital.

A family member of the driver anonymously told The News that speed was not a factor, but that the driver suffered an aneurysm while driving.

BCEHS initially received the calls at around 6:20 a.m.

Just before 7 a.m., July 27, the Abbotsford Police Department sent out notifications that east and westbound lanes between Trethewey Street and Gladwin Road were closed in both directions as a result.
